My day at Farmington - whew!

As some of you know I volunteer at a local historic home called Farmington. I have posted about it a couple of times here, here and here.

My normal duties are anything with which the program director needs help. Which usually means giving tours, answering questions from visitors, helping with the register and other jobs.

Unfortunately, today it was helping clean up after a tree ripped an 8 foot by 18 foot hole in the roof of the visitor's center.

Apparently, mother nature thought we needed to do a little rearranging and redecorating!

This is the type of work that no volunteer wants to have to do. Mainly because it means that a non-profit historic home (that operates on a shoe-string most of the time as it is) is having to clean up from damage that they probably will not recover from very quickly. Yeah, they have insurance, but as we know insurance can come up very short very quickly.

So if any of my dear readers plays the lottery, please keep Farmington in mind when you WIN all of that money and need some tax deductions! :D

Hope you enjoyed, glad you stopped by and please come back again ;)
