My relatives are dropping like flies!

When last I posted an elderly 1st cousin once removed had died on Saturday 22 Jan 2011. Well since then 2 more have died. I didn't know one of them very well but the last one that died I had just seen at the first cousin's funeral. The one that died last had come home after having lunch with his sister and sister-in-law. This was after they all had attended the funeral of the first cousin. With me so far?

Now to add to the count. My mother called me this morning to tell me her sister-in-law, my aunt, had passed away this morning. My aunt had been sick for a while and this passing wasn't a out of left field shocker but still.

You have got to be kidding me! So in 6 days I have had 4 people that I am related to die....is that some kind of record or something?

The three 1st cousins once removed were on my dad's side and the aunt was on my mom's side.

SOOOOO, trying to find the silver lining to all of this death and funeral home visits........don't put off until tomorrow things you should do today! Everybody have at least a yearly checkup and talk to those family members you've been meaning to interview while you still can.

I'm off to check my closet to make sure all of my funeral home attire is clean and presentable.

Hope you enjoyed, glad you stopped by and please come back again ;)

The passing of a dear cousin

It is with a sad heart that I found out yesterday evening of the passing of a dear elderly cousin of mine yesterday morning. His name was Sidney William Hutcherson Jr., I have written about this cousin of mine before here and here.

I learned something every time I talked to Jr and was always amazed at how much he knew about the family....and life.

I will miss him.

I gave my genealogy 101 workshop presentation yesterday!

Hello one and all,

I thought you all might want an update on how the presentation went yesterday.

I had previously posted about an upcoming genealogy presentation that was being given at Farmington in this posting.

No one was more surprised then me at how many people were there. The room was set up with tables and chairs enough for 40 people. By the time I got started there was another 10 or 11 extra chairs lining the walls. It was awesome!

There was a wonderful vibe in the room with everyone wanting to learn how to get started in finding their ancestors. After a short break Rae Ann gave a wonderful presentation on how to preserve the family heirlooms that your research uncovers.

I don't know what will come from this but I really enjoyed the experience.

Hope you enjoyed, glad you stopped by and please come back again ;)

Quiet for a while

Happy New Year, I'm still here! I have been busy, as has everyone, with the holidays, work and making sure that Santa visited all of the good lil boys and girls in my family.

I got an email today that jogged me out of my stupor of no postings. It is about a local workshop that you might be interested in....Heck you might even want to attend it if you are going to be in town on the 22nd of this month.

The email included this cool flyer telling about the workshop:
