Several months ago I purchased a Google Nexus 7 for myself as a "being good purchase." I don't normally do that but, it was at a good price so I thought what the heck. Of course, it's been fun playing with all of the apps and games that are available, but my online presence with posting to this blog has suffered. :{
I'm not really sure why it took me so long, but today I realized that Blogger has an app that allows me to post from my tablet. So I downloaded and installed it to take it for a trial run.
This is the first post that I am posting with the app.
Creating this posting is not as fast as creating a post with my computer as I am not use to typing with the small keyboard that pops up at the bottom of the screen, but it does get the job done.
The app allows you to edit the post like in the full web edition that I normally use. It also allows you to attach or take pictures and add them to the post. The picture you see in this posting was taken with the app while creating this post.
Although I am not sure of how or if I am going to be able to position the picture as of yet. As I am typing this post it doesn't as appear as though the app gives me a choice of where I would like to position the picture. That's too bad.
I also noticed that it doesn't allow me to use my automatic signature line that I have in the full version but again it allows me to get my thoughts down while in the mood.
This posting was not supposed to be a review of the app, but just a letting you know that I'm still here and what I had found in the app world that might become useful. So we'll see how often I use the app in the future.
Please let me know if any of you use this app and if you do what do you think.....oh yeah also any tips and tricks that you might have learned while using it.
Until next time,
Deborah
Hi Deborah,
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem with photos when I tried out the Blogger app about a year ago. It always throws the picture at the end of the post. I guess that's better than nothing. I haven't used it much.
Linda,
DeleteWell blogger has apparently decided to not fix that bug because it is still doing it. While viewing the posting in Chrome it has the box where the picture is SUPPOSED to be at the end of the post and when you click on it, it reports that it can't be found. :P
But I guess it (the app) is good to get your thoughts down, save as a draft and then get on the computer and add any pictures that you want. Maybe too much trouble but I will test it a couple more times.
I was testing it out before going to SLC last year because I didn't have room for my laptop but thought I'd want to blog some. It turned out to not matter since the WiFi at the hotel was too weak to upload photos anyway. I can't remember if I tried just using the blogger dashboard through the browser on the tablet or if that's just occurring to me as an option right now.
DeleteBTW, if you are free on 2nd Saturdays, think about coming to the KGS/KHS workshops in Frankfort.
I hadn't thought of using blogger's dashboard in the browser. That may take care of the photo problems.
DeleteI keep forgetting about the 2nd Saturdays. My kids are over ever other weekend and I think that maybe the reason I forget because early on they were the same weekends that they are over. I will put them on my Google Calendar as a reminder. Who's coming up at the next meeting?
Also if you are ever going to be in Louisville on the 1st Saturdays let me know. Several other genealogists and I have started a group that meets and talks genealogy. Email before you come to town and I can tell you where we are meeting.
I'll e-mail you the 2nd Saturday details.
DeleteHappy Blogiversary! Thanks for reviewing this app.
ReplyDeleteRegards, Grant
Happy Blogiversary!! I use the Blogger app on my Iphone and on my Ipad. They aren't perfect, but if I am somewhere and have some spare time I can write my post and save as a draft or I can just post it with a picture from my phone. I just love the convenience of it.
